It’s Not My Voice You’re Hearing

A lot of clients say some version of the same thing after we’ve worked together:

“I can hear your voice in my head when I’m getting dressed or shopping.”

And I know exactly what they mean.

But it’s not exactly my voice.

What’s Actually Happening

What’s really happening is that you’ve started to notice things you couldn’t see as clearly before.

You’re paying attention to:

  • how something feels on your body

  • whether you’re adjusting it or leaving it alone

  • how the fabric moves when you walk, sit, or reach

  • whether the shape feels natural or slightly forced

  • whether you actually want to keep wearing it

You’re asking better questions.

And more importantly, you’re slowing down just enough to notice the answers.

That’s the shift.

You’ve Learned What to Pay Attention To

Before, a lot of decisions might have been based on:

  • whether something looked good in theory

  • whether it was “flattering”

  • whether someone else liked it

  • whether it seemed like something you should wear

But those things don’t always tell you whether something actually works for you.

Once you start focusing on what you’re experiencing in the clothing — how it feels, how it moves, how it connects — your decisions start to change.

Not dramatically.

Just more accurately.

It’s Not About Me Being There

It might feel like you’re hearing someone else’s voice.

But what you’re really doing is filtering out a lot of the noise that used to override your own.

Rules.
Trends.
Outside opinions.
Old habits.

And once that noise quiets down, what’s left is much simpler.

You can usually tell.

Sometimes It’s Just Permission

For a lot of people, the shift isn’t just learning what to look for.

It’s realizing they’re allowed to trust what they’re already noticing.

Allowed to not like something — even if it’s considered “good.”
Allowed to take something off if it doesn’t feel right.
Allowed to choose what works for them instead of what they think they should wear.

That kind of permission can be surprisingly powerful.

Because it makes it easier to stop overriding yourself.

The Goal Isn’t to Rely on Someone Else

The goal isn’t to have someone else in your head telling you what to wear.

It’s to be able to recognize what works on your own.

To walk into a store, try something on, and know.

Not perfectly. Not every time.

But more often than not.

That’s when shopping gets easier.
That’s when getting dressed feels clearer.
That’s when your wardrobe actually starts to come together.

Because you’re no longer guessing.

What You’re Hearing Is Your Own Understanding

So no, it’s not really my voice.

It’s your own.

It just sounds clearer now.
